The Canadian Aircraft Museum was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in March, 1995 with a mission statement, “to honour Canadian veterans by preserving, maintaining, restoring, displaying and demonstrating antique or vintage military and civilian aircraft and artefacts considered important to Canadian aviation history”. They own and operate out of a WW2 hangar built in 1941 to house #7 Elementary Flying Training School part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan located at the Windsor International Airport.

The Canadian Aircraft Museum currently has 200+ active members working on various projects including the construction of a WW2 DeHavilland Mosquito Bomber and restoration of the City of Windsor’s Lancaster. It has plans to eventually construct a new museum to feature present aircraft such as a 1941 Boeing Stearman and two DeHavilland Chipmunks, a T33 jet, 1936 Fleet Fawn and a J-3 Cub as well as future aircrafts which it intends to acquire. The new museum would also accommodate their extensive military library, archive, display area and gift shop currently available at their existing location.

The Canadian Aircraft Museum is open to the public on a continual basis and is a wonderful tourist attraction for the Windsor and Essex County area.
